Estate work is the part of this trade that most needs doing carefully. Families handling an inheritance are usually dealing with a death, rarely know what is in the box, and are often being asked to make decisions quickly by people who benefit from haste.
We would rather slow that down. For any collection of size we will come to the house, itemize everything on site, and leave you with a written document — whether or not you sell anything to us.
The most expensive mistake we see is a whole collection sold by weight because nobody separated the collectable pieces first. It is also the most avoidable.

- Do you travel to the house?
- Yes. For a collection of any size we would generally rather come to you than have you transport it before it has been valued.
- Can you work directly with an attorney?
- Yes. We regularly prepare itemized written valuations for estate attorneys and executors, with no requirement that anything is sold.
- What if the estate is not ready to sell?
- That is common and entirely fine. A valuation establishes what the estate holds, which is often needed long before any decision about selling.
